Testators are at liberty to leave their assets to their chosen beneficiaries - up to a point. If a dependent is insufficiently provided for under the testator’s will, an inheritance claim could be on the cards. An independent adult child might even have a claim against their deceased parent’s estate, but any award will be limited.
