Dealing with conflicts of interest. Paragraph 5.8 of Lexcel v 6.1 has a policy requirement for it. Search the SRA Code of Conduct for Solicitors paragraphs 6.1 and 6.2, and also look at the Guidance and Case Studies on conflicts of interest provided. Whether or not your firm has Lexcel accreditation, or you are regulated by the SRA or the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), as a working lawyer you need to understand the idea of ‘conflict of interest’ and be able to spot when there is the potential for it to arise.
