Meet the Contributor- Andrew Abaza

Meet the founder of Five Focus LTD and CMC registered Mediator, Andrew Abaza.


He has has been trained, assessed and accredited to standards set by the Civil Mediation Council. He is also a volunteer mediator with Mediation X in Hastings and the Brighton and Hove Independent Mediation Service (BHIMS) who focus on mediation in the community.
Mediations he has been involved in include property, professional negligence, and housing disrepair.

His style as a mediator is to give confidence to the parties that a settlement is possible by using a clear process and helping those involved think through how to resolve their dispute.

While contributing his courses for the site (access his courses here), we took the opportunity to get her perspective on some of the burning questions around the legal sector and professional development.
Read on as she shares how an unexpected job offer shaped her career, how she has learnt from her mistakes and what she would like to change about the legal industry.  
Do you have a favourite failure? Something that didn’t go so well at the time, but has actually benefited you in the long run?
Meeting a new sales prospect, and rushing ahead with the solution before properly helping them identify their issues and needs (did not get the business!)
What has been a career highlight for you?
Putting together a Sector Skills Council from 5 separate industry organisations.
Can you give us an example of one of your non-negotiable daily habits which you feel improves your professional or personal life?
Thinking about/organising the day the evening beforehand.
How do you think e-Law Learning’s training can help legal professionals in their career?
By being able to pick relevant short individual modules to fill specific knowledge gaps and find out new things without the need for long study programmes.
